It's not often you'll hear about a TV show host being asked by the military to help build armour for their vehicles but that is exactly what has happened in the case of Jamie Hyneman from Mythbusters.
Jamie's task this time is to build armour for a vehicle which is ultra-light but which also can withstand the pressure of an explosion and it shrapnel while keeping those inside safe.
The Hyneman has already designed an animatronic human body that bleeds and yells until somebody applies a bandage for training troops overseas and now he will help develop the lightest and strongest possible armour for their vehicles.
Perhaps it should come as no surprise that he has been approached afterall the Mythbusters are uniquely qualified when it comes to playing with explosives. We've already seen them blow up many a vehicle (the concrete truck still has to be the best), bulletproof a car with phonebooks and develop a lightweight stormproof cocoon in a recent storm chasers special.
Seems like the US military are fans of Mythbusters or maybe Barack Obama just put in a good word for them. After all he has appeared on a special episode of the TV show asking the boys to re-test the Archimedes death ray myth.
